The clash of catwalks spurred mixed emotions in the build-up to Delhi’s hosting of not one, but two fashion events this week.Differences between organizers of the established Wills Lifestyle India fashion week led to the creation of the Fashion Foundation of India which has launched the delhi fashion week.

told Reuters that although it has been stressful and there was some negativity,
in the here and now there is a positive atmosphere.
Over the first three days, the ramp has seen a ocktail of colours, textures, prints layers, drapes, embroideries and shimmers all incorporated into the latest fashion trends But what has really stood out is the garments’
wearability For designers like Muzaffar Ali, wearability is the key factor and anything too different becomes nothing more than a
“fancy dress”.Wearability, however, does not make for a plain showcase of collections. In the india, the spice is high Designer duo Lecoanet and Hemant,

Garments were
wanting to look at something outside of what’s going on in the world,
used a rocket launch countdown to propel the models onto the runway adorned in a variety of neutral shades and fluorescents mixed with metallic fabrics and sequined leggings Garments were held together with belt like straps and staple effects.
Taking ‘out of this world’
a step further, the show ended with an alien boy covered in green body paint taking to the runway. With an international craze for Indian glitz,
we can’t help but mention Abhijeet Khanna he’s my personal favourite.

with a line of simple cuts, his use of bright coloured silks garnished with sparkle created a masala mix of eastern and western elements,
which is his forte.Khanna, who trained under renowned Indian designer Manish Arora, has been popular in Europe and his creations will be hitting London’s
Harrods in JanuaryThe fun didn’t really stop there.
Day three at the fashion week really boosted the energy levels. The opening show, 11.11 by CellDSGN stimulated a standing ovation as the reographers took the ramp to another level, with models walking the runway backwards.
The atmosphere only heightened further in anticipation for the day’s final show by renowned designer Rohit Bal. Spectators filled the room like no other show this week, eagerly awaiting his collection.
The ramp was covered in pink feather-like tissue paper. The lights dimed and all eyes turned to the catwalk. As the music built up, what happened next was the unexpected.
India Fashion Week

Buried beneath the pink paper, a model elegantly and artistically emerged from the floor and took to the ramp. The vibrant oranges and pinks, the vast flower embroidery and the extravagant ruffles, layers and collars, made for a bold and powerful collection.
Overall, here at the Emporio Mall, optimism and a certain coolness resounds
Model Nina Manuel told Reuters the Delhi fashion week is much calmer than the other fashion weeks.
“Everything is well organized and all is running smoothly backstage. It’s nice for the models.”
But a fellow reporter couldn’t wait to get to the India Fashion Week — he claimed it was “more buzzing”.
I don’t know. I haven’t been there yet. But being different may not be a bad thing — perhaps any diversity would only strengthen the Indian fashion industry and widen its international horizons.
I am yet to see what “vogue voyage” the runways of the Wills Lifestyle India fashion week will take me on in the next few days.
I’ll keep you posted.

Innovation is the cornerstone of the Delhi Fashion Week. ‘12 by Delhi Fashion Week’ in Dubai had set the context of introducing interesting features within the existing format to reach out to wider audience. This season the Delhi Fashion Week is all set to introduce the concept of ‘off-site’ show.

rohid bal,s will be unveiling his elaborate collection at the Delhi Fashion Week this season. The show is divided in two series to differentiate his prêt line from his more dramatic and elaborate line. The series will open with a ‘intimae show’ at the Emporio showcasing his prêt line like never before and will set the ball rolling for the drama to culminate at his chosen off-site. The show will be held at his restaurant at Janpath.

Sumeet Nair, Head of the Delhi Fashion Week thrilled about this addition said, ‘We are extremely excited about adding off site shows this season. This season we have introduced this concept with Rohit Bal who can pull off an off-site with equal ease and panache as he will while doing the show at the Emporio. The openness fostered by Delhi Fashion Week and its forward thinking has made this ‘first’ possible. This is a leadership position and you will see many designers following this example’.

Following the international practice the show will be on the calendar of Delhi Fashion Week with the same sponsors, talent teams, choreographers and backstage helpers at a different venue.

According to Rohit Bal, the designer showing at the Delhi Fashion Week added, ‘I will show a more commercial collection at the Emporio with the intention of focusing on the business of fashion. The collection showcased at the Emporio will be purely prêt a Porte and is a part of my main collection’

Every season everyone expects something new and unique. They also like to experience innovative and creative presentations. So this season I have decided to do my show in a different environment which has the right ambience to infuse a sense of freshness and unique presentation style. Internationally every designer has the freedom to choose a different venue while they are associated with the on going show. I am strongly entrenched with the Delhi Fashion Week and the Fashion Foundation of India and together we think that eventually this is the way to take fashion forward.’

An innovative format to match the global standards in fashion, the Delhi Fashion Week will set new benchmarks for the Indian fashion industry and create greater opportunities for designers. The mainstay of the event is to bring the most creative talent to the forefront and make Delhi an important fashion destination. Delhi Fashion Week is organized by Prodigy Fashion and endorsed by the Fashion Foundation of India. Delhi Fashion Week will feature a mix of the most renowned and emerging fashion talent in the country.

Fashion Week Countdown:

Fashion Week Countdown
IT was Hannah MacGibbon's second outing for Chloe and, with rumours of the designer having locked herself in her hotel room for hours last season in a bid to remove herself from the pressure of it all, we were nervous for her. Last season she had to hold her own against our too-fond-to-be fair memories of Phoebe Philo. Despite Philo's new job at Celine and four seasons away from Chloe, the memory of her effect on its collections is still pretty fresh in our minds. MacGibbon did a good job – she offered clothes that had the same girlish nonchalance but managed not to repeat the Phoebe formula, and that simply piled more pressure on to do an even better job today But she did it.
"The pressure is on because of Phoebe Philo's success but Phoebe left some time ago now so there is space for Hannah to develop her own style," said Alexandra Shulman after the show. "Phoebe took some time to settle there and so will Hannah – but she did well last season and this was a strong development on that. I think she did really well."
The models were among the most glamorous we've seen this season, with perfect glowing skin and bouncy blonde blow-outs, they had a Timotei girl romance about them – in a far more watchable reference to the Eighties than some of the more unpalatable fashion memories that have been recalled in the last month.

The trousers had MacGibbon's audience taking sides: some can't wait to leap into the jodhpur-
style khakis, tie them up once or twice at the waist and take off into
fashion land, while others saw them as nice looking but difficult to wear – not the safest reputation to build at this stage.
But honey toned suede jackets, military coats with buttons over the ribs and collarless ones with thick leather belts - all worn with thigh-high suede boots that were strapped to the leg at intervals – went with single shouldered tea-dyed silk blouses with bows all down one arm, bibbed, country girl shirts, jumpsuits, duffle coats, huge man coats in grey cashmere and ribbed wool-fronted trousers that had a hardy fashion attitude.
These women can take on the world: part-game keeper chic, part damsel in distress who in a fit of sudden pluck steals all the men's clothes to make her getaway – managing to style it all just right by mistake.A delicious romance appeared later in the show via black velvet dresses and white muslin ones – calling back the Timotei blonde again – while gold metalwork on tweed jackets had Parisian sass and nude silk chiffon dresses, the last of which was gathered at the halter neck and fell very low at the back, gave us a clue to MacGibbon's eveningwear skill the
we'd have liked to see more of, in fact,There were no dramatically new ideas here, but it felt completely new – as if she'd raided our wardrobes and come out with a fresh take on how to wear everything. If you need help spending your money the right way next season, Chloe might just be the place to give you a few clues.

Fashion Week Countdown:
If there's one thing that can cheer me up, it's Fashion Week. I had some down time at work today, so I spent it going through New York Magazine's Pre-Fall 2009 Fashion Week
section where they have a sneak peak at what the designers are going to show February 13-20.
From what I can see so far, next fall will be full of the usual muted colors: black, gray, etc., with little pops of color. Black tights with mile-high stiletto ankle boots are on everyone's models. The majority of the pants I saw for women were wide-leg black suit pants, and there's every version of the little black dress imaginable.
One thing that surprised me was that everyone's collection was surprisingly wearable, except for maybe Chanel's, who's inspiration looked like a combination of the far East and Soviet Russia. My new favorite every-day wear designer is Alberta Ferretti and my favorite evening wear is a three-way tie between Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan and Reem Acra.

I can't wait! I hope I get to go to some shows. I know the associate editor, Crystal, usually covers the runway shows, but maybe I can sneak invitations to a couple. I'm sure I'll at least get to experience the inside of the tents again. Three and a half weeks!
